BIO INNOVATIONS AND OPPORTUNITIES IN MEDICINE AND ENGINEERING
What is a Biome?
Biome is a biological term used in the field of ecology. It is generally defined to be an assemblage or association of plant and animal groups occupying a given geographical location (In Madison we live in the deciduous forest biome). All of the organisms in a biome, plus all of the associated environmental factors with which they interact, are an ecosystem.

At the University of Wisconsin, BIOME™ (Bio Innovations and Opportunities in Medicine and Engineering) is an analogous interaction of different distinct groups at the University of Wisconsin– graduate students and faculty at the university interact with its various academic units, the biomedical industry, and the larger community of healthcare providers and users.
